3 weeks and counting

I can hardly believe we've had Esteban for 3 weeks as of yesterday. It's amazing how much he's grown and changed, and continues to develop every day. Life is settling into a good routine of naps and bottles, bath and bedtime.

Yesterday we returned to La Candelaria with Grandma Dawn, and visited the Gold Museum (about pre-Columbian civilizations' gold use--fascinating) and the Botero Collection (Fernando Botero is a living Colombian painter and sculptor whose chubby figures are unmistakable).
Jody and I taking a bottle break with the babies while at the Botero museum. Esteban has an internal timer that requires a bottle at 11:00am precisely! No waiting for Mommy to finish looking at the paintings!

In the courtyard at the Botero.

The requisite happy Esteban photo of the day.

It was a beautiful day, and we walked a lot. We ended our day out with a fabulous lunch in a little restaurant on a beautiful courtyard (at right).
We find that our days out are best ended before afternoon naptime--making morning adventures most important. A difficult schedule for this mommy whose best time of day is NOT morning!
Thanks to all of you who have emailed and posted comments to the blog. It's so great to hear from you. I am definitely missing home, and it's nice to know you're thinking of us, too.

Buenos Dias,
Abuela y Abuelo Goulet here.
You look great. Esteban appears to be happy at all times.
YOu must be having a wonderful time visiting all the historic places of Bogota. I wish I could spend some time there with all of you.
We are having such a cold snap right now. By the time you and Esteban come home, it
should be a full Spring.
Have you had Arroz con Coco yet?
It is supposed to be verycomforting.
Paul, Alie and family are in San Diego on holiday. Talked to
them last night. Doing great, asked about Esteban.
We pass around the pix of Esteban everywhere we go. He is so adorable. Please keep us posted
Cant wait to see you. I am hoping to spend some time with Julee next week.
With our love. Besitos para Esteban.
Hasta pronto.

Hi Sabeth,
Whenever the weather is awful here, (today it is snowing),I log on and look at the pictures of your beautiful hotel and the sunshine and flowers. OH! and I check out the the pictures and movies of Esteban as well! He is surely the most beautiful baby ever. Debbi S. loved the original movie and the soccer movie. We miss you and are all looking forward to your return so we can see Esteban (and you) in person.
I am borrowing your chair till I get a new one of my own (I'll get it before you come back). I had to stop using that awful grey chair because it was wreaking havoc with my back.
Jo took a few well deserved days off after Easter. Alan Tucker's mother died a couple of weeks ago, but he was here cooking up a storm at the men's breakfast yesterday. Other than that everyone is well. You keep well too, and hurry back.

I finally got to watch the soccer ball video tonight. Whee!

I just wanted to let you know that Julian did a wonderful deed for me yesterday by letting me spend the night at your house. Perhaps you are aware of this: our apartment in Winchester is infested with bats! We have been staying either at the beach house or with friends since then. If everything goes right, Monday the exterminator will be able to clear them out and seal up the holes in the wall.

So I owe you: just give me the call once you're back with Esteban, and Duncan's Gluten Free Gourmet will be catering. Julian placed an order for pork roast.

I am so glad to see the smiles all around on Sabeth and Grandma Dawn. Esteban seems really happy and it is good that you know who is in charge. I am looking forward to seeing you all home. Enjoy the great Colombian weather; it is snowing here.
